Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz have been summoned to the stewards after first practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix over alleged erratic driving following an early incident at Turn 12. Verstappen, on his first flying lap, was forced inside when a slow-moving Sainz stayed on the racing line, before Verstappen then slowed through the corner and moved back across in front of the Williams. Sainz was later found to have had no radio, but Verstappen called the moment “really dangerous”.

Lewis Hamilton says Ferrari had the pace to challenge for victory at the Belgian Grand Prix, arguing they were closer than expected because Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli was not able to pull away. Hamilton said: "When I meant that we could have [won], I think on pure pace, Kimi is so fast he pulls away, but he wasn't like ballistic, and we were a lot closer than we had thought."

Aston Martin's Mike Krack says the team’s major AMR26 upgrade for this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix will take the car in a different aerodynamic direction, alongside a weight reduction. Mike Krack said: "I think Adrian mentioned it already a while ago that the upgrade is a significant aerodynamic upgrade and a weight reduction. That is the key or the red line of it. You would have to ask the aero experts for the detail, but I suspect that we will move more in a different direction."
