Ocon on Haas straight-line speed deficit in Belgium

Esteban Ocon said only team-mate Oliver Bearman’s Haas is “working as it should” after he was knocked out in Q1 at the Belgian Grand Prix, pointing to a straight-line speed deficit and rear instability on his VF-26. Ocon said: "We're losing more than five tenths on the straights, so inevitably, with this issue we haven't been able to sort out since the start of the weekend, it's tricky. I'm losing those 3–4 km/h compared to where we should be… Only Ollie's car works as it should, so that's just how it is."

Williams team principal James Vowles says “absolute transparency” is the cornerstone of how he maintains Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon’s trust during the team’s rebuilding phase. Vowles said: "Step one is like any relationship: transparency. So, from the first signs of trouble around about October last year, he was the first person I called. Alex was the second person I called. The order is not significant; that is just the sequence in which I did it. Arvid Lindblad says qualifying eighth for the Belgian Grand Prix was “one of the best feelings” of his rookie season, after taking his highest grid position so far in his upgraded Racing Bulls. Lindblad said: "It was a really good session. From FP1 I felt good with the car. Honestly, it has been one of the best feelings I have had this year, with Barcelona and Canada, and Melbourne. So, I don't know, the team have done a really good job to give us a good package and yeah, from the beginning of Qualifying I felt good, I felt on it."

Norris on recovering from Belgian GP grid penalty

Lando Norris says a good start and a productive first lap will be crucial if he is to recover at the Belgian Grand Prix after a 10-place grid penalty left the McLaren driver 13th on the grid. Norris said: "Clearly, the pace is pretty good. It's close, so it's not like we're easily going to be able to get back in the fight with the top group.
