George Russell said his Mercedes’ anti-stall problem at the start of the Hungarian Grand Prix was another setback to “add… to the list” from the first half of the season. Russell said: "I was on the throttle waiting, then all of a sudden, the engine was going all over the place. It was revving really high and really low. Add it to the list of things that have happened in the first half of this year and pray things calm down in the second half."

Lawson on Racing Bulls' two-stop strategy call in Hungary
Liam Lawson said Racing Bulls’ decision to switch him to a two-stop strategy at the Hungaroring was a “great call” after he finished eighth ahead of team-mate Arvid Lindblad. Lawson said: "We didn't plan on two-stopping, so that was something that was a surprise. I'd been managing the first part of that hard stint, and I could feel that there was something going on behind, because just the communication with Alex [Iliopoulos], he was mentioning the Audis, but not saying too much. And then out of nowhere, it was push for me to box. Obviously a long stint on the soft at the end. But it was a great call from the team."

Mekies on Hadjar's future after strong start at Red Bull
Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies said the team will make a “logical decision” on Isack Hadjar’s future after praising the Frenchman’s start to his first season with the Milton Keynes squad. Mekies said: "It is good news that we have a strong second driver for the first time in quite a long time. That was also one of our goals prior to this season. Isack is performing solidly and has learned a lot from the team and from Max... We haven't discussed the future yet, but everyone can see that Isack is doing an excellent job. Max Verstappen said he was “shocked” to finish second at the Hungarian Grand Prix after struggling with the handling of his Red Bull throughout the weekend, having told his engineer in qualifying that the car was “completely broken”. Max Verstappen said: "I was just like, 'How the hell did I end up here?' I was shocked. I'm actually still shocked... Overall, I still don't really understand how we are second, but I think as a team we performed strongly. I see it as a bit of an overperformance compared to what we expected, so I guess that's, of course, a good thing considering how everything felt."
