Russell on Mercedes' tyre-related qualifying struggles in Hungary
George Russell says Mercedes’ struggle for one-lap pace at the Hungarian Grand Prix is down to tyres rather than the car, after a Q3 water leak left him seventh in qualifying. Russell said: "Well, I think our assessment after FP2 was that we were seven-tenths off in qualifying pace, and we had the quickest race pace. So that tells you it's not a car problem; it's a tyre problem. I guess we'll answer that question in the race if we struck the right balance between tyre warm-up for qualifying and the race. But starting from P7, it'll be difficult."

Lewis Hamilton apologised for his "attitude" after Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying, after he was investigated for impeding Oscar Piastri in Q3 and later given a three-place grid drop. Hamilton said: "Yesterday was difficult. Forgive me for my attitude. I had done such a great session and then I got the call right at the last minute, so to then know I was going to get a penalty, was tough to swallow."
