Sainz given warning for impeding Verstappen

Carlos Sainz Jnr has been given an official warning by the Hungarian Grand Prix stewards for impeding Max Verstappen in first practice. The stewards said Sainz braked early on the racing line approaching Turn 12 as Verstappen came up behind on a push lap, forcing Verstappen to move right to avoid a collision. Sainz told the stewards he did not hear his engineer’s warnings because his radio cable was disconnected, and that he was braking early to warm his brakes. Verstappen said he was surprised but “did not consider the incident to be dangerous”, and the stewards issued only a warning because it happened in practice and “did not in fact endanger” Verstappen.
