Carlos Sainz is facing a post-session investigation after first practice for the Belgian Grand Prix following an unusual pit entry incident at Spa-Francorchamps. Sainz crossed the pit entry line and passed the bollard at the final corner but did not enter the pitlane, instead turning left across the run-off and rejoining the circuit.


Audi’s Nico Hulkenberg has been summoned to the Belgian Grand Prix stewards after opening practice at Spa, over a suspected failure to slow sufficiently under yellow flags in FP1. The caution was triggered when Oscar Piastri slowed his McLaren late in the session following a team instruction to stop the car due to an issue, before being asked to continue and bring it back to the garage.
