Williams has been summoned to the stewards after the British Grand Prix over an alleged safety car unlapping infringement involving Carlos Sainz. The FIA summons alleges a breach of “Article B5.13.4c of the FIA F1 Regulations – unlapping behind the Safety Car when not entitled to do so,” after it was noted Sainz appeared to move ahead before lapped cars were officially instructed to do so on the penultimate lap at Silverstone.

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff says Antonelli’s late wheel-shield failure at the British Grand Prix was “on us”, after the problem cost the Italian a likely victory fight and left him scoring no points at Silverstone. Wolff said: "It's on us. A car should not break. I don't think the ride was worse than any laps before. He couldn't turn any more. We haven't done the post-mortem for what's happened. It's just fury we have at the moment."

Mercedes will not challenge Kimi Antonelli’s five-second track limits penalty from the British Grand Prix after concluding internally that it was justified, Motorsport has reported. Toto Wolff had initially suggested the team would look into having it rescinded because Antonelli was carrying car damage, but Mercedes has since accepted the stewards’ view that there was “no justifiable reason” for the Turn 6 infringement that triggered the standard penalty for a fourth offence.

Lewis Hamilton has kept his British Grand Prix podium after the FIA stewards issued only a reprimand for an alleged yellow-flag infringement at Silverstone. The Ferrari driver was investigated for speeding through a single-yellow zone while passing Nico Hulkenberg’s stranded Audi, but the stewards accepted he entered the sector before the yellow was shown and had “very limited” time to react.

George Russell says he is not going to fight for a championship if his performances continue “like that”, despite finishing second for Mercedes at the British Grand Prix to take his first podium at the event. Russell said: "The performance wasn't good enough and if I'm being brutally honest, I'm not going to fight for a championship if the performances continue like that. I'm not coming away from this weekend satisfied."

Charles Leclerc said “tough times never last, only tough people last” after winning the British Grand Prix for his first victory since the US Grand Prix in October 2024, ending a 37-race win drought. Leclerc said: "This one feels particularly good, even though I wished a bit of more normal ending, but, hard work paid off. Tough times never last, only tough people last!"
Toto Wolff says Mercedes’ simulations suggested Kimi Antonelli would have caught Charles Leclerc with six laps remaining at the British Grand Prix before damage to Antonelli’s car ended his fight at the front. Wolff said: "Yeah, it's difficult, you know, that would have been an epic end of the race. He would have caught Charles six laps to the end with a huge tyre offset. But you know, it's a mechanical sport. These things can happen."

Max Verstappen says a rear-wing issue on his Red Bull is “super dangerous” after his late spin into the gravel at Turn 15 while running in podium contention at the British Grand Prix. Verstappen said: "Like Austria, a different fault but the same outcome. So, again, while turning into the corner, the rear wing is not fully attaching and you lose a lot of downforce for that. At that point, it's super dangerous because you can really hurt yourself two times. I was lucky in Austria, I was lucky here, but that's why you get really fed up with it."

Charles Leclerc said “the feeling was back where it needs to be” after winning the British Grand Prix at Silverstone for his first victory since 2024. Leclerc said: "It feels incredible. Unfortunately the end was maybe not the one I will have dreamt of, but to win after the last few weekends that have been particularly difficult, all the work that we put into trying to get the feeling back in the car. I felt like I had found something yesterday between the Sprint and Qualifying but I had to confirm that today. And today, the feeling was back where it needs to be. I'm so incredibly happy."

Lewis Hamilton says he is expecting to lose his British Grand Prix podium after being placed under investigation for an alleged yellow-flag infringement. Hamilton, who had already served a five-second penalty for a false start earlier in the race, said he did not see the yellows when Max Verstappen crashed. “I’m probably going to get a penalty,” Hamilton told Sky F1. “I went through a yellow flag and didn’t see it… So a jump start, yellow flag [infringement]. When it rains it pours.”

Charles Leclerc said he went through a “very difficult mentally” period earlier in the season before his British Grand Prix win for Ferrari. Leclerc said: "After Monaco, the feeling wasn't there. I crashed in Q3, then in the race we had an issue and that ended our race. In Barcelona, the feeling was good but I crashed again. It was very difficult mentally. Austria wasn't so great but here I we managed to put everything together and I hope I can keep that momentum going forward."

Lewis Hamilton said he “jumped the start” at the British Grand Prix and could not match Charles Leclerc’s pace, after receiving a five-second penalty for a false start. Hamilton said: "I just didn't have it today. I jumped the start, got a five second penalty, but Charles had the pace on me today. I struggled with the balance of the car but I gave it everything and I'm grateful to be up here."

Charles Leclerc claimed his first Formula 1 victory for almost two years after misfortune struck Andrea Kimi Antonelli late in the British Grand Prix.

🔴 Charles Leclerc: "It feels incredible. Unfortunately the end was maybe not the one I would have dreamt of. To win after the last few weekends that have been particularly difficult. All the work we put in to try to get the feeling back in the car, felt like I found something yesterday after the Sprint. But I had to confirm it today. Today the feeling was back where it needs to be. I'm so incredibly happy. "With Kimi, it would have been close. He was very fast when he was coming towards me. It would have been very difficult to keep that first place. Then I heard he had a problem so I was like 'OK, now I have a big gap and it should be straightforward'. Then with the Safety Car, some backmarkers had to pass us, so I did all the Safety Car time at 100kph, so my tyres were very cold. Not great for the fans around the track but in the helmet I was happy that there was not a restart to keep that win." ⚪️ George Russell: "Firstly, congrats to Charles, he drove a great race. Great race, great to be always in Silverstone, my first podium so really pleased to be standing here. It was obviously a very unlucky race then got very lucky at the end with the Safety Car. It would have been great for the fans for it to have restarted but from my side my tyres were stone cold so I was glad to bring it home in second. Tough weekend but, overall, good to be standing here." 🔴 Lewis Hamilton: "Firstly I have to say congratulations to Charles. Winning this Grand Prix is a great experience and this is a great result for our team. So congratulations to our team. I just didn't have it today. I jumped the start, got a five second penalty, but Charles had the pace on me today. I struggled with the balance of the car but I gave it everything and I'm grateful to be up here. "The team is doing a phenomenal job. We have some work still to do to really close the gap on pure performance but look at these results. Two wins for the team this year, this is fantastic."

Lewis Hamilton has been placed under post-race investigation at the British Grand Prix for an alleged yellow-flag infringement after Max Verstappen’s late crash triggered the safety car, putting his third-place finish at Silverstone under threat. The race ended behind the safety car, with Charles Leclerc winning from George Russell. Any time penalty could drop Hamilton out of the points, with Oscar Piastri 11th, 4.0s behind.
